Problems With Your Cat’s Urinary Tract

Feline Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) is a group of symptoms that can lead to issues in your cat’s bladder and urethra, often causing the urethra to become blocked or preventing your cat’s bladder from properly emptying

Symptoms

Cats suffering from FLUTD can exhibit symptoms such as straining to urinate, blood in the urine, urination in inappropriate places etc.

If left untreated, FLUTD can become life threatening.

When you should neuter your cat

Typically, cats become sexually active at around six months of age, so a good time to get your cat neutered is considered to be when they are between 4 to 6 months of age. Even cats as young as eight weeks old can be neutered safely. It is also never too late to neuter a cat.

Risk Factors

FLUTD is associated with many factors. It is more common in overweight cats, male cats and felines that are not engaging in regular physical activity.

FLUTD is more common in the two to five year age group.

If you feel that your cat is afflicted with FLUTD or other urinary tract issues, please visit the vet immediately.
